  Infuriating Elder recorded on JWStruggle

  help from a loving jehovah's witness elder part 1. this elder is clearly out of touch with all emotion period as this poor girl pours her heart out to him.

  can these untrained, unloving, pharisees possibly be fit to represent a god of love?

  I called an elder once when I was severely distressed, as in suicidal. Sounded exactly like this guy on the other end of the phone coupled with an explanation on how he was putting some honey in his tea when I had called him and that it was good and hot. All this coupled with sounds of exhaling appreciatively whilst drinking it. Either he was being passive aggressive in an effort to get back at me for perceived wrongs or just plain dumb and clueless as to the situation. The latter being the most likely. True incompetence.

  many witnesses view the structure of the organization, and the authority of the governing body , as a model of the first century congregation..if the governing body is, indeed structured similarly to the 12 apostles.

  paul provides a good example of how we need to view men such as these.. he admonishes christians to reject any teaching that is different from god's word gal 1:8 "but even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.".

  he shows by his words that the first century leaders, meant little to him.. 2 cor 11:5 "indeed, i consider that i am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles.".

  Are Elders experts on the Bible? Are they spirtually qualified men?

  how many times have elders read their bible in its entirety?

  these are the leaders that give counsel to married couples, to teenagers, to single girls and single boys on everything from marriage, education, sex, association, dress, and recreation..

  how well do they know their bible?

  Good post James, I strive towards a combination of both : Bible reading - searching for knowledge all the while appreciating nature and thanking the creator everyday for beauty in nature. I truly believe he will make things right one day in his due time. If I live to see it it will be thanks to Christ.

  im here sitting and listening to youtube video songs and practicing on my guitar and checking out posts on jwn.

  and one more thing, im seeing the spanish jws going door to door in my street.

  they work my street every single week.

  I'm in a French area with lots of former Catholics that have church baggage and culture and I do find that it creeps into the congregations. Anyhow I feel that that many of them are way more open and zealous for the WT's indoctrination than their Anglophone counterparts. Having tried it out for a couple years and failing miserably I find that hey have more 'rules' and are overly regimented, just not my cup of tea. There are some great people in there for sure, just that that are mislead by the overzealous leadership and the culture.

  i was contacted by the witnesses in1965, baptized in that same year at age 15. i was appointed an elder in 1975 and served as an elder for 20 years..

  it hasnt been long since i learn ttatt and when i totally woke up.

  Great post, subscribed. There you have it in a nutshell why I'm single never married at 52, being orphaned and having to take over a failing business at 18 there is no way I could recover from something like this financially. I'm just starting to be able to relax a little now. So sorry this happened to you John, and thank you so much for sharing it, I feel for you brother.

  Good post, this issue was a MAJOR red flag to me when I first came in. At first I just rolled with it as I was caught up in the moment of the promise of everlasting life and the end being just around the corner, could smell it like the rain it was said. This was 15 years ago. Co dependency and lack of boundary issues led to my eventual burn out and major depression. Do something against your very nature and eventually you'll pay the price with your health.

  Had high blood pressure, chronic fatigue and suicidal depression issues from this.

  so that was the line used by an elder the other day to me!.

  he implied that i react badly when spoken to by the elders.. i corrected him and said: "no, i'm always happy to have a conversation.

  but what you seem to be implying is that unless i sit and accept and take everything you say, then i am being defensive?
